McDonald’s Soccer ad

McDonald’s has an ad out now that I think is hilarious. It shows a fat kid tending goal when he gets scored on and loses the game. The winning team celebrates while the losing team gets happy meals and feels better about themselves. The message of this ad: Only losers eat McDonald’s. And the more [...]

The Presidentials 5-4-04 Snow sifted down through the screen mesh in the tent. Outside, the wind howled past the rock we were huddled against. There isn’t much forgiveness for being slow in the mountains. As we lay shivering in our sleeping bags, I contemplated on what brought me here in there first place.

I just thought I’d say, yeahhhh. New parents have it tough, and new Mom’s really have it rough. Andrew has gas or something and refused to go down again after nursing so I shushed him back to sleep and rolled back into bed. 45 seconds later he is stirring again. It’s hard to sooth a baby [...]
The Big Read is an NEA program designed to encourage community reading initiatives and of their top 100 books, they estimate the average adult has read only six. They encourage us to: *Look at the list and bold those we have read. *Italicize those we intend to read. *Underline the books we LOVE

I saw this somewhere else and thought it was a cool idea so here is my answer. Right now, there is: my watch, some massage oil, and a few books. Galactic North by Alaistair Reynolds is a book of shorts stories and novellas set in his Revalation Space universe. Great sci-fi. I enjoy pretty much [...]
The Manly art of shaving

It all started in November of ’06. I never thought much about shaving until my wife bought me a nice new electric razor so we would stop buying all those cartridges. I wanted to stop for two reasons: 1. I don’t like the fact that they are so disposable and 2. they are really expensive! [...]
Baby’s first Mountain

Yes we may or may not be bad parents for taking our three month old up a mountain but he seemed to enjoy it even if my back and shoulders didn’t. He just looked at the trees all day. He loves being outside. We met some of Lydia’s BASIC (brothers and sisters in Christ) friends [...]

First, this post was written to spark conversation (boy, has it!) Second, this was written by someone (me) who is not a scientist and has not been studying this subject for years. I know there are downsides to GE foods, but I wanted to explore the positive side for once. For further information on my [...]
